Description: A fine American Rococo Revival laminated rosewood settee in an elaborate special or custom pattern, attributed to John Henry Belter, New York, circa 1850-1860. The tripartite back incorporates flower-filled urn-form baskets mounted against the crest and enclosed by an unusually extensive pierced network of grapevines, pendant clusters, flowers, leaves, and scrolling foliage. Grape-cluster hand grips flank the serpentine upholstered seat above a conforming carved rail and cabriole legs. Offered as part of the seven-piece suite comprising Lots 72-75.

Condition: Retains an old polished surface with scattered scratches, abrasions, finish wear, darkening, and minor color variation. Pierced laminated back and crest elements have age-related seams, minor cracks, and areas of old repair or reinforcement visible from the back. Excellent later red and gold woven damask upholstery presents with minimal visible wear.
